Panasonic VIERA TC-L32C3 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV review

Panasonic VIERA TC-L32C3 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV review

Easy to set up. Great picture. This is my second Viera and I have been very pleased. The first was a plasma and is still performing beautifully. I got this one for a second TV and it is perfect for my needs.

This is one fantastic TV for the money. We got this for our new kitchen and it has performed wonderfully since the moment the cable got hooked up.

Highly recommend it. A note of bias - we have a 50-inch Viera plasma in the basement and love it, so we weren't exactly surprised at the quality of this set. But for as little as we paid, we can't say enough about the quality.

Samsung PN51D450 51-Inch 720p 600Hz Plasma HDTV (Black) Review

Samsung PN51D450 51-Inch 720p 600Hz Plasma HDTV (Black)

Make the Most of Movie Night

"Plus One" Design
Samsung's Plasma Plus One Design sets this TV apart, with a bigger picture and a narrower outer frame, for an extra inch of screen

Plasma Display
Samsung's Plasma HDTVs deliver all the bold contrast and color of plasma, with the advanced features and design that Samsung is known for. Compared to other types of displays, Plasma offers high contrast ratios, gorgeously saturated colors, and allows for wide viewing angles, so every seat in the house is a great one.

Quality Sound
Get crisp, clear sound with 10 watts through two speakers and advanced SRS technology. SRS' TheaterSound, available in new Samsung HDTVs, is an all-in-one audio suite that directly addresses the three most common consumer TV audio complaints--inconsistent volume levels, unintelligible vocals, and poor, dimension-less sound.
Review
I've recently purchased both this tv and the D550 from Best Buy, spending a few hundred more on the D550. This tv replaced the old tube tv downstairs and the D550 replaced a 37" lcd in our living room. After bringing both of these mammoths home, setting them up, and watching a few movies on each of them... both my wife and I decided that we can't tell any big difference the D550 has over the D450 picture quality wise. In fact, I think the blacks are deeper on this model! Long story short, we returned the D550 and purchased this model for the living room too...

LG Infinia 55LW5600 55-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Smart TV (Included Four Pairs of 3D Glasses)

LG Infinia 55LW5600 55-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Smart TV (Included Four Pairs of 3D Glasses)

I have to say I was really impressed by this set when i first saw it being demoed. I love 3d but have never wanted to own a set because the active shutter 3d makes me dizzy and sick after about 10 minutes of watching it. The passive 3d offered by this system is great. No sickness, little to no eye strain and a great 3d image. People have complained that the way the 3d is created halves the resolution, this is not noticeable at all with 3d blu-ray. I did notice lining in the image when i was very close to the tv, closer than I would want to sit comfortably. One complaint I have, though it is a small one, is that 3d gaming is noticeably lower in resolution. I have only tried this with one game(killzone 3) and only with this 3d format so cant really compare weither the other 3d format(active shutter) offered would be better for gaming. Still an amazing gaming experience regardless.

Samsung UN46D8000 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV (Silver)

I wanted to give this TV a glowing review; after all, it has some of the latest LED technology, and the style is trend setting. After a week with this TV, I am less than satisfied with the 'Samsung Experience'. Let me get this off my chest first. Did you ever go to an event, like a county fair, early, when not all the rides and attractions were open? You're excited because it looks like it can be a lot of fun, but it's just a bit too early for the full experience. Well, that's the way I feel about this TV. First of all, the 3d glasses that are supposed to ship with this TV were not in the box. Instead, there is a voucher you may mail in, or go online to order (which I did). After a week and no response, I called to find out why the delay. I was told to read the voucher's fine print, which said there was a 10-12 week wait for the glasses. Not good. Secondly, I found an issue with the remote control unit, which is not a fun thing to have in your hand. It is sort of short and stubby, with two sides. One side has a QWERTY keyboard for text entry, and a touch-sensitive pointer. I find that the up, down, right, left controls do not work correctly with my unit, and called support to report this. They seemed very interested in the matter and told me they would call back in 45 minutes (after they set up a testing unit) for further info. There was no call back. Another reviewer mentioned the difficulty in pairing the remote with the TV, via Bluetooth. I also found this to be a problem and not consistently easy to do.

LG 42LK520 42-Inch 1080p LCD TV - Black

It's just fancy enough and no fancier. Everything works as advertised and the picture is awesome. The picture adjustment wizard is brilliant. This is also the first 120Hz TV I've owned and I'll never go back. The base is not as solid as I would have expected but it's solid enough and the swivel feature is really nice, specially since it's in an enclosed cabinet it swivels just enough that I can get to the side inputs. The remote is also pretty well designed with buttons for everything I want to get to with one touch. The built-in speakers are not bad for being built-in and the voice amplification feature is a nice touch. I highly recommend.

VIZIO XVT323SV 32-Inch Full HD 1080p LED LCD HDTV with VIA Internet Application Black

VIZIO XVT323SV 32-Inch Full HD 1080p LED LCD HDTV with VIA Internet Application Black

This is the first LED LCD HDTV i buy, i got it from Amazon and it was great. Easy to set up, worked good with the cable, wifi, and pc.

Some things to take notice of:

- The speakers sound really good, they lack somewhat in the bass department, but as far as TV speakers go, they are ok.
- If you have a cable box like mine, which requires you to have a specific channel tuned on your TV and change between channels using the cable box's own remote, you should do the following: go to menu -> TV then again into Menu -> Settings -> Tuner and run an auto scan for channels, it will take a while and you may find more than one channel, when it's done, just search through the channels to find the one where your cable box is tuned into, and then you can keep on as usual (i had to do this under the Antenna mode, since my cable box can requires you to tune your TV on channel 3 or 4, so searching under cable tuner did not yield good results, but your mileage may vary).

I know this might not be very common in the US, but i live in Mexico and that's how the cable company does things around here. Didn't found those steps in the manual, but it didn't take long to figure it out.

Another thing. If you're planning to plug your PC into this TV, make sure to take advantage of your DVI or HDMI ports if your computer has them. My graphics card has only DVI, so at first i plugged it only with the standard VGA cable, picture was ok, but i got the DVI to HDMI cable and plugged it in, and IT DID make a difference, specially on videos and games. I Think the reason for that is that while on VGA mode (a.k.a. RGB) the TV doesn't actually operate at a refresh rate of 120 Hz (labeled 'true motion' or something like that under the picture settings), but it does when it is on any of the HDMI inputs or the TV, so be sure to grab yourself some HDMI cables, or DVI to HDMI if you're in a situation similar to mine.

Other than that, the apps seemed to work great, NETFLIX is yet to be available in my country but the app works, and last but not least, sometimes the TV starts updating it's firmware without warning, you'll note it because it seems to turn off, and the "VIZIO" logo flashes in white and orange, it's normal and it's not frequent, it doesn't take too long too.

All in all, a great experience, i recommend it to everyone. For 500 bucks, you can't get any better TV with internet apps.

Haier HL22FP2 Pink 22-Inch Designer F Series LCD HDTV

Haier HL22FP2 Pink 22-Inch Designer F Series LCD HDTV

Great color, great picture, good size for a little girls room. MY only "heads up" is that it's not completely flat. So, be careful onm what mount you get. The bottom is wider than the top.

Philips 22PFL3505D-F7 22-Inch LCD HDTV Black

Philips 22PFL3505D-F7 22-Inch LCD HDTV Black

My previous television was a 25" Sharp purchased 15 years ago. At the time it was considered top o'the line, even though it weighed a mere 3 tons and was unmoveable. When it fell, landlord came running up stairs to see if I was still alive. Being so large and dense, it survived the fall and continued providing great images but the sound was slowly fading. My cable provider who I wont insult here is so busy acquiring new customers with a new comprehensive total residential package, that smaller customers like myself in a small apt w one set have become like gnats in their ears. My reception was freezing or breaking up, request for service calls meant minimum 7 day wait, and a sudden event of no picture and no internet connection was becoming part of one's day, like the water or electricity going off each day in certain 3rd world countries.

Fortunately I moved 2 days ago and so decided to leave the dinosaur behind w a neighbor who was thrilled as his dinosaur was even larger than mine and about to crash.
I honestly had no idea (I originate from the dark days of silent cartoons) of what kind of television to buy for my new life. After researching the concept of saving money and ditching cable altogether by getting an antenna for a tv set up for local limited viewing still needed technological skill I'm too old and tired to get involved with.
So I did what any idiot would do, I looked for the best reviewed set by Amazon customers, read all the reviews on a set I could afford and bought this one.
Dont be put off by a 22" screen, this smaller dynamo has a crispy clear picture; the images almost appear to be in 3D (is that what HD is?) the sound can be heard anywere in the room, I've postponed my hearing test (no joke) and the set can be lifted with 2 fingers, is less than 2" thick and sits on a small table.
In short, great set at an unbeatable price, easy set up although my cable man did it all and the remote is similar to my former cable company.
Money well spent.

Samsung LN22B360 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Samsung LN22B360 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

I have this hooked up to an antenna, and the picture from over the air is great. It is neat to see the different signals the TV stations are putting out on the extra digital channels. The picture looks very sharp and nice colors.
The sound on the TV is very good for the bedroom also. I can see that in a family room or living room this might not be loud enough, but I am not experiencing any of the "quiet" sound problems.
The base that came with the TV is a fixed mount that screws in with 2 screws. It seems sturdy enough, but there is no adjustment for viewing angles.
Now I hope the old TV in the living room lasts long enough so I can save up for a 32" replacement like this...

LG M2762D 27-Inch Widescreen 1080p LCD TV Monitor (Black)

LG M2762D 27-Inch Widescreen 1080p LCD TV Monitor (Black)

After reading some of the reviews, I thought that this has got to be the most mediocre product in the world. So I almost talked myself out of this purchase. Yet the price point was so compelling that I figured, what the heck? Amazon has a great electronics return policy.

Some reviewers have commented on problems connecting their PC and having the image be truncated at the borders. After experiencing this problem myself, I did the unthinkable and read the manual, which is included on a CD accompanying the monitor. It makes it clear that the HDMI is for devices that produce video output only. Now you might say, this is a dealbreaker, and you'd be wrong, especially considering the nominal use to connect a PC and perhaps 1-2 other HDMI devices. There is a DVI input, specifically aimed at handling output from a PC. A simple HDMI to DVI cable (available on here or cheaply at a, which has an HDMI port, place like MonoPrice) will do the trick. I already had the HDMI to DVI adapter sitting here at home.

So I am now able to connect both my Zotac MAG barebone system (it has an HDMI port) and my MacBook Pro (it has an included mini-DVI to DVI adapter) to this display. I'm particularly impressed with the video quality, not to mention the ability to switch easily between the PC and Satellite TV or DVD player.

There's no doubt that this might not be the absolute best HDTV monitor available in terms of picture quality. But it's certainly one of the best in its class. I basically was looking for a sub-$400 monitor to replace my computer monitor upstairs and actually constrained my search to this price range ($300-$400).

So this might be one of those times where it pays to read the manual. I know that notion is falling a bit out of fashion these days. My review is probably closer to 4 stars but there are some particularly negative reviews here that need to be averaged out.

LG 22LE5300 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LED LCD HDTV

LG 22LE5300 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LED LCD HDTV

I had previously purchased a 42LH90 (full array backlit LED) and a 26LE5300 (edge lit LED). All LG sets have great picture quality. I am a convert form 30 years of owning SONY TVs. As with most of the new sets, they are weak in the sound arena unless you connect to an external sound system. I purchased the 19 inch LE for a small bedroom but may end up using it in the kitchen. Again, outstaning picture!

Magnavox 26MD301B-F7 26-Inch 720p TV Combo

Magnavox 26MD301B-F7 26-Inch 720p TV Combo

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set this up, it was simply a matter of attaching the base, connecting a few wires and plugging it in. The set scanned the cable system while I inserted the batteries into the remote, we finished about the same time and I was ready to start watching TV. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting the heavy monster it replaced out of the way.

The picture is quite clear, the color and sound are both good. The DVD works well (for the most part), the controls on the remote are fairly intuitive. I had been a bit concerned about the size of the set, the one it replaced was just slightly larger but even so I can still see the set quite clearly from across the room (about 20 feet). So far the only problem I have had has been that it hung up on the DVD one time. I could not get the set to return to the regular viewing mode even after removing the DVD, and turning the set off, then back on etc. The problem was solved by unplugging both the set and the cable box and restarting everything. The problem has not recurred so I am hoping for the best.

I am quite happy with this product and am would not hesitate to recommend it.

VIZIO M260VA-W 26-Inch LED LCD HDTV with Razor LED Backlighting White

VIZIO M260VA-W 26-Inch LED LCD HDTV with Razor LED Backlighting White

I bought this Vizio because I needed a decent sized tv that was relatively cheap but would also fit into a dorm room. The picture quality is excellent and the difference between this tv's 720p and other 1080p is negligible. At first colors looked a little washed out on my 360 but after fiddling with the tv/xbox settings it now looks superb. The size of the tv is also nice...it is lightweight and is super slim. The only thing that could be improved on is the speakers which imo are still a lot better than most tv's in this price range/size. It sounds a little hollow and could use more bass but overall it isn't too bad (it helps to turn off srs surround and switch to rock equalizer). Volume also isn't too big of an issue with this tv like on other tv's since this has front facing speakers as opposed to rear speakers. There is also very little lag or ghosting at 8ms and 60ghz refresh rates. Highly recommended if you are looking for a tv that is cost efficient and has good picture quality.

VIZIO E220VA 22 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV

VIZIO E220VA 22 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV

I bought this tv from my local Wal-Mart at college. I had a 19 inch in my dorm room before that was a combination dell monitor/tv. I wanted to use that one as a dedicated dual monitor for my laptop, so I looked at new tvs. I wanted something with full 1080p to use with my blu ray player and the digital channels I get at school. I liked this vizio for the price and for the features. It has enough inputs for my needs, I use my dvd player with composite (the component out on my dvd player doesn't work), wii with component, and I have an hdmi cable to hook up my laptop to it (my laptop is my blu ray player). The picture quality is excellent on high def channels and pretty darn good on standard def channels.

The biggest issues I've had with it so far is that the remote isn't super responsive. I have to press the buttons pretty hard to get the volume/channels to change. The sound gets plenty loud enough, but it increments from 1 to 100, so you have to change the volume by about 5 levels before you notice an appreciable difference in level. It would be much better if the sound incremented from 1 to 20 or something.

Overall though, those issues aren't anything I can't live with. My roommate and I pretty much exclusively watch USA and don't change the volume that often, so the remote isn't a big issue. If the remote is an issue for you, I would recommend a cheap universal remote.

As far as looks go, this is a slick tv. It's ridiculously thin and looks awesome! Everyone who comes in my room comments about how thin it is. I would very much recommend this tv for people looking for a small tv for dorm rooms or in an office. It doesn't take up much space and has a nice picture.

Vizio E220MV 22-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV - Black

Vizio E220MV 22-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV - Black

I have this TV thanks to my co-workers with having a birthday club + after days of reviewing & actually going to see this and other HDTVs on display & after years on a standard resolution LCD TV, I went ahead and bought this.

The LED/LCD factor + Price, made the difference with buying this .vs a Samsung or a Sony. This handles blacks & whites very well & overall picture is wonderful.
I love the buttonless touch controls on the bezel & the many ports on the rear of the TV.

My only dislike of this TV is the sound. I'm not an audiophile but if I had to toss a term, I'd say the sound was thin. The good news is, is you can toggle the settings just enough to get a good experience out of it, just not great.

All in all, its a great HDTV, delivering a great 1080p experience, that is at a great price, without sucking up great power to do it.

Vizio E220MV 22-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV - Black

Vizio E220MV 22-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV - Black

I bought this TV and installed it on a kitchen wall about 15 feet away from my large Sony living room TV two weeks ago. The picture is great, but I would compare the sound to that of a radio, instead of a stereo. I have this TV running off of a splitter from my DVR that is connected to the Sony in the living room. When I have both of my TV's on at one time (which is a lot), I am mostly keeping the Vizio on mute. The sound of the two TV's on at one time seems distorted. The Sony sound is very rich, while the Vizio is not. I can understand why sound bars are a must with a lot of flat screens. This is a great auxilary TV for a bedroom, den, or kitchen. For less than $200, it's a good deal. When I am working in the kitchen and just have the Vizio sound on, it's acceptable, but still not the quality of my nine year old Sony.

Programming tip: If you are going to connect it to a DVR, first disconnect the DVR and run your "in" cable directly to the TV (without the DVR in the loop). Go thru the initial channel programming and let it "auto run" to find the channels. When that is finished, then plug it into the DVR and it should be ready to go.
