ViewSonic VT2730 27-Inch 1920x1080 LCD Flat-Panel HDTV

This is the only HDTV I've owned and it's an upgrade from a 20-yr-old Panasonic CRT that started to die. I can't say enough about how nice I think it is, how well it's worked during the first month and how easy it was to set up. It's perfect for my smaller space. I've used it with my HDTV cable box, to view Blu-rays and DVDs, as a photo frame, and as an external monitor. Everything has worked fine. I didn't have to ask a man or teenager to help me with anything . I'm using it with small external speakers that I like better than those that are built-in.

I checked out and returned first a 720 dpi HDTV.Doing my research, I read that many claim that 1080 doesn't matter with a smaller set. Don't believe it! The difference in the resolution is enormous. It makes a difference as well when you're also using it as a computer monitor and streaming 1080. There are minimal jaggies with this set, which means that your own photos will look better too (not pixelated), if you display them on the HDTV and saved them with decent resolution. There aren't many smaller HDTVs with 1080 this year. (I too wanted Sony Bravia, but their smaller size is too small and 720 dpi and too expensive as well. I don't miss it a bit.)

Only small quibbles: One HDMI and earphone port (not so easy to find these days) are easy to reach, but the one USB is in the back. I took a gamble based on liking ViewSonic monitors and because it has a few options that I wanted. Amazon sent the set quickly and honored their best-price guarantee. The value therefore is excellent, since I got it at a near  rock-bottom price during the holiday season. :-) Highly recommended.

Admittedly, I am not a television connoisseur. However, I can say that this is a fantastic product for the price. The sound leaves a bit to be desired (as expected), but the picture is clean and crisp. The settings menu is great, too. There are preset settings for everything from Movies to Baseball to Golf. The unit is super thin and very light, as well. For an inexpensive 1080p LED-lit LCD TV of this size, you can't beat this unit.

I wanted this for my RV and I wanted to mount it flush to the wall but the configuration of the jacks make the RCA plugs attach parallel to the back of the unit and stick out too far to be flush mounted. Other than that, nice set.

First, let me clarify that the TV is, in fact, native 1080p. No question about it. 

Second, the panel on this TV is made by Samsung, and the quality is excellent.

Based on the two year warrantee, what I am seeing with my TV and Amazons excellent delivery, I'm giving this set a Best Buy rating .. 

UPDATE 11/16/2010 .. this set is just plain excellent .. and Amazon service is top of the line .. my set developed a thin blue vertical line, I contacted Amazon, they picked up the set the next day and delivered a new set at the same time .. hard to beat that .. 

Update 11/17/2010 .. it's a bit tiresome getting messages from folks who 1) don't have the TV and want to slam it in a public review 2)Know little to nothing about TV's .. I had an electronic repair business for 10 years and I've worked on a lot of TV's .. so I know what I'm talking about .. any TV by any maker is not 100% perfect 100% of the time .. I stand by the fact that this is a great set .. hey, if you don't want to buy it, go get something from the local 'Mart or what not .. or get nothing at all .. matters not to me .. I think you'll be missing out on a great deal, however .. 

UPDATE 12/08/2010 .. Thanks to Original Aspect Ratio .... you might try this on any remote and see if it works .. what have you got to lose .. ?? .. keep in mind that this TV has been branded as RCA in the past .. 
I have a Logitech Harmony remote. When I select "RCA L32HD41" the tv works 100% as far as I can tell.

When I bought the TV, there were no reviews for it, so I was a little nervous but took the chance and purchased it anyway. After two months of testing, I can confidently say that this is a great product. 

The TV produces a clean and crisp picture with no flicker, making it fantastic for gaming. It's also very quiet; you can barely hear that "ring" that TVs make when they're left on, and it doesn't make any noises when powering on or off. The screen also doesn't get any glare, so watching TV or gaming with open windows is not a problem. 

My only issue with the TV- and it's a very small issue- is that the glossy black finish picks up fingerprints very easily, and since the TV only has one set of component outlets, you'll find yourself having to put your hands on the TV to turn it around and replace the component plugs between gaming, DVD players, etc. That doesn't take away from the great quality, however. 

When all is said and done, this is a great TV. If you have a small room and a tight wallet, this TV is a perfect fit for you.

I bought this tv for my college dorm room. The picture quality is excellent, which is what I expected. What I didn't expect was the great sound quality. Taking into consideration that this tv is so small and thin, the speakers are good enough that you don't need a set of external speakers. My tv isn't super loud like the other review says, so I guess he just got unlucky and got a defective one. I use this tv to play xbox and as a computer monitor (both using HDMI) and it works great for both purposes. Although the stand looked a little unstable to me, after setting it up I found that it works just as well as any other stand. Would have been perfect if it had one more HDMI port.

Let me clarify that this is a 1080p and not a 720p. Picture quality on HD channels is not quite as good as my Samsung 37" 720p, but for a small TV that is used in the bedroom this is very adequate at a very reasonable price. My only criticism is that the base does not swivel like on the larger models.

The Samsung LN26D450 26" LCD tv has been great. The picture is remarkable. There is minimal ghosting during fast action video, the colors are full and vibrant. Much better than older 26" LCD tv's I've looked at in the past. The Price of the new 2011 models are much better than last year models as well (~$100 cheaper). The menus are very easy to use in making adjustments. The remote is also very easy to use. It has all the necessary Component and HDMI slots for setting up Directv/Cable box, Blu Ray players, and more. It has it all!! 

The only aspect of this tv that is not perfect is the sound quality. I have yet to see a LCD tv with good sound. I have a 52" LCD tv in the living room and it was awful. I had to get a Bose system to finally get some good sound. This 26" tv is better than other tv's sound quality I have heard, but its still not perfect. I use this for my bedroom, so the sound is perfectly sufficient for my needs. No matter what lcd tv you buy nowadays, your pretty much forced to buy an audio system to along with it. Overall, this tv is great and I would buy it again if I had to. When looking at the other 26" tv options out there, this tv exceeds expectations!

I'm completely happy with my purchase. The picture is beautiful and the TV looks good hanging on my bedroom wall. I used a "VideoSecu" Articulating TV Wall Mount. The sound is adequate and the speakers are in the TV. Another reviewer incorrectly said the speakers were in the base. I use free broadcast TV using a roof-top antenna. Setup was easy after I figured it out. The settings default to "cable" so I had to change the settings to "antenna" before the auto channel search would work. The DVD player also worked great after I realized I had to change the "source" from TV to DVD. I guess that is a no-brainer but I struggled for a while. The DVD picture is better than expected. I realize DVD is not high-def but the up-conversion works. My only two complaints are that the remote control buttons are too small and the TV's glossy black surface picks up finger prints. I highly recommend this TV.

I purchased this television as a computer monitor. I wanted it because of the LCD backlight, built in speakers, and large screen, for a computer monitor. When I purchased it my computer had not yet been built so I hooked it up to my cable box and WOW what a great picture! Granted I was coming from an old CRT television but hey this thing was very impressive! It is very customizable and can be set on preset settings as well. It worked great to replace a 1981 circa Magnavox in my bedroom. I used it for a couple of weeks as a television and when my computer came in I switched it to a computer monitor. I had purchased an HDMI cable from AMAZON before my computer arrived. Plugged in the HDMI cable and the power and keyboard and wal-la the picture came on with the sound! No need to configure the system to set up, it just works! Right out of the box. Being an informed consumer I had read that you need to calibrate the screen. Well when the monitor first came on I understood why. Things seemed a little blurry. I set the Veiwsonic to Computer and it helped but this was not yet the solution. I then found in Windows 7 the clear type set up under the control panel and displays. Once you configure to clear type this thing looks great! It is like reading on a piece of paper! Screens and videos look great! I am running Windows 7 64-bit professional. The high resolution high definition screen is very impressive! For me the price was right because I have a computer monitor that can be a television if I want as well. It has three HDMI connections so I can connect another computer, maybe a Mac Mini in the future, and later maybe an X-box 360! You can easily switch with the touch sensitive controls or use the remote. The colors and contrast are really incredible. This television/monitor is a great deal for the money! I caught mine at a good time to purchase because I got it for about twenty-five dollars under three-hundred dollars! If you read these reviews often you will know why I wrote it like that. It runs cool, comes on after a 5 second Viewsonic warm up screen, switches between sources easily, looks great and works like it is supposed to! In short I like this monitor a lot! 

VIZIO M261VP 26-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV with VIZIO Internet Application Black

We bought this to replace the 19" LCD that was in our kitchen and we absolutely love it. It was easy to connect to the internet (although I am good with computers and electronics). The picture we get when streaming netflix is awesome. Everyone that has been over comments on how thin the TV is and what a great picture it has. 

Other reviewers have commented on poor audio quality, I don't agree with them. I guess there is room for improvement as far as the speakers go, but do you people really expect home theater sound out of a $400 high def razor thin TV? Also the TV is in my kitchen where there is usually so much background noise and other stuff going on that the quality of the sound isn't really an issue. Lastly no one who has come over has ever made a comment on the sound quality and these are friends, not visitors who are trying to be polite. 

The internet apps all work great and entertain the kids for hours (I just need to figure out how to block the less appropriate content and it would be perfect). I would buy this TV again in a heartbeat. 


Edit on 12/18/2010: We have used this TV everyday for the past two months and we still love it. Pandora is great for Christmas music while we decorate and wrap presents. The internet apps work great and still no comments (good ones or bad ones) on the sound quality. We are still very happy with our purchase and I would definitely buy this TV again.

Sony BRAVIA KDL22BX320 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV Black

The Sony was easy to set up right out of the box and I like the remote. 
Great sound and picture but the size is a little small for the bedroom (12x12). 
I'll keep it (mainly because I am spoiled on Sony TV's and they currently don't make a 24" or 26")

LG 26LV2500 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LED HDTV

I was looking for a small LCD TV for our guest bedroom and decided on the LG 26LV2500. This seemed to offer the most features at the lowest price for the use it would get--only when we had guests in our spare bedroom. The set arrived very promptly in the mfg. original packaging and there was no damage to the carton and everything was there. It was easy to assemble and set up. Since I was using a basic cable connection(no box) I needed only the coax connection. The set scanned for and found all my cable provider's digital channels, both HD and SD(There are no more analog transmisions in my area). The picture is bright and clear(at least when viewed from bed) and although "only" 720p it looks as good(to me)as the two large 1080p sets that I already have. The sound is certainly fine for the use it will get. All the settings are easy to access and adjust and there are many more inputs than I will need on this set. I did resurrect an very old(non blueray) DVD player and connected it using the composite input--it produced a nice picture with standard DVD's. The only thing I found a bit strange was the power brick. Instead of the set getting power directly from from a 120V outlet, you plug a power brick into the outlet, which has a cord that plugs into the TV. I assume this is used because it is cheaper and/or easier that trying to design a 120V to 24V power supply that will fit into this very thin TV and so overall I am pleased. :-)

I have this tv in my room hooked up to my play station. Picture quality is very good and sound is not bad either. I very happy :-) 


Conclusion: I'm giving this tv 5 out of 5 stars because it was exactly what I was looking for. A solid tv, with the specs I wanted at a great price. 5 stars for the tv. 1 star for the stand. I have only had this tv for 2 days now so I will update if I have any further issues.


Cons: The stand is very wobbly. I like to rest my feet on the desk but i can't now because it wobbles the tv. which is really disappointing but I'm sure there is something I can do to fix it.

I Bought this tv on black friday, got it today. the set up was so simple .I hooked it to my dvd player with a HD cable and picture and sound are great .I got a 160 chanels when it scanned for chanels. I didn't have that many with my older tv, so that was an awsome factor. I think for the $149.00 price I got a great deal even though it was a non famous name brand.So far it looks like a great investment on my part. The clarity is nice and easy to adjust. this TV is extremely functional and easy to operate. :-)

VIZIO M261VP 26-Inch 1080p LED LCD HDTV with VIZIO Internet Application Black

I've had this TV since August and have been perfectly satisfied - until last night, when it would not respond to any command, either from the remote or back side buttons, even after unplugging/replugging the set. I called tech support and was pleasantly surprised to be connected to a very knowledgeable gent located in So. Dakota! He had me back in business in no time. (For those interested, the fix is to unplug the TV, hold the on/off button in for at least 30 secs, then plug it back in). The most painless TS call ever! Thanks Vizio for keeping things local.

As for the TV itself, I couldn't be happier. Outstanding picture, can't complain about the sound, but I never turn it up past 25 on their volume scale. If you're not happy with the sound, and you don't adjust it much, you can remedy the problem with some computer speakers plugged into the headphone jack. Connection to my network went flawlessly. The widgets that I've tried work well (Netflix streaming, FaceBook and a couple of others) as Yahoo! adds more, they are displayed on the app screen as new and you have the option of adding them or not. The various picture modes are explained well, unlike some other TVs manuals. Actually, the whole manual is well written and informative, with the exception of where the power line plugs into the set. The LED back lighting is adjustable,it work.

A couple of things could be an issue for some. As mentioned, the 'brick' power supply, along with the side mounted cables. This could be problematic for those wanting a clean wall mount. Also the lack of a functional USB port.

If you're in the market for an ultra-thin smaller screen internet capable TV, this merits serious consideration.

I use this in my bedroom and was pleasantly surprised with the great picture.Oh! I did not notice any issues with the sound as other suggest. One other great feature of this TV is the cables plug in vertically as apposed to sticking out the back which makes mounting close to the wall a lot easier.

I purchased this tv last week so i havent seen all the tv has to offer yet but so far it has been great!!! Nice and perfect image, very light and thin and many ports to connect whatever you want! Although i would have expected more of the sound but since the tv is for my bedroom i think is perfectly more than enough! Totally recommend this tv

RCA 22LA45RQ 22-Inch 720p LCD TV - Black

I had a 19"FAVI TV from amazon and replaced it with this one. This TV is awesome for a kitchen. it's 22" so it's a bit bigger, which is nice and it's wall mounted so it looks great, and unlike the FAVI, the remote works every time! I am very happy with this TV. At 169 it can't be beat! ALSO NOTE!! THIS IS A 1080p TV Not just a 720p. Amazon should change the listing to reflect this.

Samsung UN22D5003 22-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

I brought this TV as a monitor for my computer. 

I like that the speakers are built in and if you have hdmi on your computers video card it reduces the need for an additional soundcard and audio cable. 

My only complaint is that there is a pc/dvi mode for the hdmi ports that makes the pc image look really clear and it was difficult to find it existed at all. For the first week of use the text was very blurry on the monitor and it was only through reading on message boards that I found this option needed to be changed. It is not an obvious option as I had been through the whole menu on the TV many times. Once this option is set Windows looks great at 1080p. 

I also have xbox 360 hooked up to the second hdmi port and that looks great as well. 

Overall this is a very nice TV or monitor for 250 bucks if you are going to be sitting pretty close to it when using it. 

One other negative might be the stand as it doesn't really allow you to do anything. What you see is what you get. It's not a problem for me though.

iSymphony LC24IF56 24-inch 1080p LCD TV - Black

I just received my 24" 1080p LCD ($149.00 Lightning deal delivered) and set it up in about 5 minutes. I also received a Vizio 23" LED Razor ($223.00 delivered) yesterday from Costco and comparing the two models and just after a few minutes, Im sticking with the Isymphony model and returning the Vizio. The Vizio LED is a nice unit, great picture, very thin, but what I dont like is the remote. I must have received a semi-defective one but thats not the issue but rather the functionality of the remote is much better on the Isymphony. This is for my 5 yr olds room and I like the sleep/timer function right on the remote, the Vizio doesnt have it. Its basically going to be hooked up to a DVD to watch movies and thats about it. I can tell its not built like the power house Samsung, Sony, LG, and Panasonic (which I own a 42" and 50" Panasonic Plasma and they are great) but for $149.00 for a 5 year olds room or even a bedroom, this is a great value TV. The remote is very easy to navigate. The 1 HDMI doesnt pose any issues and the Sony DVD works just fine, which is component. The 42" 1080p Isymphony LCD is to be delivered next week ($298.00 Lightning deal delivered) and that will replace the 32" Sony Wega tank in the bedroom I have had for almost 10 years. I wasnt aware that Isymphony made LCDs but was familiar with their audio products. In conclusion, easy out of the box set up, good remote, good picture, great value. Price was a big consideration and the lighning deal made this 24" 1080p LCD a steal and great value.

I bought this for my Sons room, I needed something that he could watch Netflix shows, like Dora on. Since he is young I also looked at fun TV's like ones in the shape of cool cartoons, but instead I decided on this because I figured he won't grow out of it. If he's 10 or 18 it's still cool, he will be able to take it with him to college ect. It works great, sometimes the Netflix is a little slow loading but video playback is awesome,and the sound quality is great for it's size. I am very happy with this purchase! I want one for myself!

I love it. Remodeled our kitchen and wanted a small TV to mount on a wall that would not become a focal point. It's a great HDTV. Super slim design barely protrudes from the wall. Very light weight. Excellent picture. It's great that they can cram 1080 pixels into only 22". And the overall TV design is very simple and clean. Well made. 

I installed a power outlet behind it and ran the HDMI cable through the wall. The TV is so slim that it has very little space remaining to route the cables behind it. It has a channel molded into the back. Part of the problem was I did not use a standard wall mount kit - the TV is less than 2" thick, and I did not want to double that by using a standard wall mount bracket. Turned out great.

Purchase Experience: fine, smooth and painless as always.

Size : fantastic - super thin, and light, which enables keeping shoved toward the back of its surface to keep the kids' fingers away from the screen. 

Picture: Excellent, very crisp (using HDMI cable). Easy enough to modify settings to get the right picture for your lighting conditions. My set is in a naturally-lit room and I have had no problem with the picture or colors as a result of the bright sunlight. 

Sound: fine. If you just want to watch TV/movies, the built-in speakers are fine. They won't make you go ga-ga, but if that's what you want, you'll already have (or soon hereafter acquire) a speaker system. 

Heat : Here's a really trick of the LED backlighting - it produces surprisingly little heat compared to a more traditional LCD. Most LCDs generate a fair amount of heat, but the LED LCD doesn't generate nearly as much. 

Dust : For whatever reason, the bevel seems to attract more dust than other LCDs in the house (TV and computer screens). Dust doesn't collect so much on the screen as around it - odd, but easily dealt with and doesn't affect the picture. 

Bottom Line: Great TV, especially for the price.

Panasonic TC-L22X2 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with iPod Dock

This little LCD hasn't got the credit it deserves, (3.5 stars ??). We got this LCD to replace a 15 year old 26 inch RCA tube TV in our bedroom. We were contemplating a 26 inch LCD, but decided to go with the 22 inch. We are very big fans of all TVs Panasonic; 1 plasma, 1 TAU and now 1 LCD. It has beautiful imagery and great sound. The menu is very intuitive with many options to fine tune the picture and audio. Speakers are just fine for a bedroom. The docking system is great. Our room is 12x12 and I can't believe these reviewers that put a 42 inch TV in their 12x12 bedrooms. Way too big. With the lights on the TV appears small but the picture is so clear and crisp it makes up for it. All text is very easy to read from 10 feet away. With the lights off you would be hard pressed to guess it's only a 22 inch. If you need to upgrade a TV for your bedroom, this TV is an excellent choice.

Ok so I ordered this tv yesterday on a lightning deal and had never herd of this brand. I was very worried what It would be when I opened the box but Fedex delivered it 30 minutes ago (less then 24 hours from my placed order to delivery) and it was packaged well looks just like every other lcd and the remote worked great! I had it out of the box and hooked up in about 10 minutes that's including screwing in the base. There was no info on this tv when i ordered it so I hope this helps someone. It has plenty of connections including computer connections it has the standard wall mount holes, and from what i can tell in the first hour of owning it looks just as great and crisp as much more expensive flat screens. One thing I'm confused about is it says only 720p on Amazon but i have it hooked up with only component cables while waiting on my new cable box with hdmi hookups and the picture is already reading 1080i. so I'm thinking when the hdmi is hooked up it will be a full 1080p but do not hold me to that. So even though I still don't know the warranty or anything about this brand I am very happy with my $198.00 purchase and it looks great in my bedroom. Great buy so far!

I must say that I am very pleased with this TV. It is a perfect fit for a bedroom. I beg to differ with some of the comments about the sound quality. The speakers are in front of the unit, not in the back as with many HDTV's. Yes the sound is a bit tinny, but it does not need to be cranked up to deliver sufficient sound for a 12x12 room. The picture quality is suberb for a smaller screen. The HD 1080p is indeed full HDTV and I am impressed with the LED backlighting. It is also a solid energy saver as it is rated at a 4.0 for energy efficiency. Yes, the remote could be improved, but I have to use a cable remote for my box so that is a non-issue for me.  All in all I would definitely recommend this TV for the price. I am very satisfied with its performance thus far. :-P

I have had this TV for almost a month and am completely satisfied with the performance. It is compact, thin and easy to set up--just follow the instructions on the screen after you have turned it on. The color was a little "washed out." I went into the color adjustment option and "tweaked" it a little. There is a protocol during the set-up that helps you select the color reception, however it proved not to be what I really wanted, so I did it manually. Now it is clear, sharp and very natural looking. I also adjusted the sound quality the same way. I feel this TV will rank with any more expensive Sony or Panasonic for quality and reception. If you are looking for a excellent, small 22" for the kitchen or bedroom, this is a keeper. The only problem, and it is a minor one, was during the "auto-scan" process to search for TV stations. It warns that it could take as much as 20 minutes--and it did. I had todo this three times since it turned itself off after about 15 minutes twice before completing the scan. It could have been my cable supplier, but don't worry. Be patient and all will be terrific. :-)
